A heart opening weekend

In the self-development / spiritual world, we often ‘work’ on opening our hearts in meditations or with whatever kind of exercises.

This weekend though I didn’t have to sit on a meditation cushion for hours going through all my chakras to fill my heart with joy, gratitude and love. No. But what happened exactly then ?

Well I honestly don’t have the exact answer. I can only guess what happened, I think I simply was and took it all in, instead of trying to achieve anything. I was relaxed. I didn’t have any agenda. I went with the flow and everything was actually flowing like Elizabeth Gilbert said in one of her recent workshops : ‘when you are being present to life with no agenda, you are not the choreographer anymore but part of the universal dance’ where everything is perfectly orchestrated.

My soul was so happy walking down the streets of Lyon, looking at all the big city had to offer: ancient book shops, cat cafés and all the French fine dining. I spoke my mother tongue and didn’t have to spell my name! I felt home. I was home.

My mind was inspired by the people I spent time with and their lifestyle: working on the other end of the world or living in the most beautiful countryside house.

My heart opened spending time with loved ones who I didn’t see in ages and meeting their children for the first time. Those little humans welcomed me as if they’ve known me forever and all of a sudden I was a Princess-Pirate fighting on a sinking boat. I was a Comic reader. And I was their new Aunty <3. Maybe it was the purity of their love that cracked my heart open. An unexpected occurrence for sure.

And this is what I want for this year: a sparkling soul, feeling home and an open heart without having to ‘work’ on having them.

Less stress

Less labels

Less boxes I put myself and others in

Less judgement

Less limiting beliefs

More feeling less thinking

More flow less agendas

More heart opening experiences instead of exercices

More inspiration

More spark

What kind of experience opened your heart and made your soul sparkle without having to ‘work on it’?
